What is the hype about Probiotics?

Let’s explain what probiotics are in the first place. These bacteria are vital in the development of the immune system (which fights off our colds, flues, and other illnesses). Probiotics are bacteria located in the intestines that help us prevent diseases by killing harmful bacteria. They also help us to digest food by assisting the body in absorbing nutrients via the bloodstream. Our digestive system is a strong, pre-balanced food-processing unit. It is made to last us our entire lifetime. By continuing to consume foods that contain these friendly microbes and taking probiotic supplements you become a part of maintaining the healthy balance your body needs.

As in all battles, some are left for dead as they tear through the enemy trying their best to protect the human body they live in. Hence, it is crucial that we consistently recharge our gut with our little allies. There is a long line of benefits for those who choose to replenish these microscopic warriors. In order to maintain the balance our body needs we must sustain 85% of good bacteria in our intestines, while the colon must nourish 15%. The primary of these are the prevention of certain cancers, including stomach and colon cancer. Also, they aid in the prevention of yeast infections, skin infections, irritable bowel syndrome, ulcerated colitis, Crohn’s disease, tooth decay, and in children they help to avoid stomach and respiratory infections they can easily catch while at school.

If you already eat healthy and you still suffer from constant fatigue, food allergies/sensitivities, trouble losing weight, gastrointestinal disorders, chronic acne, joint inflammation…and the list goes on…you may simply need to add more probiotics to your diet. We always encourage that you consult with a health professional before taking on any new diets or supplements. For those of you who refuse to do so we strongly suggest for you to do plenty of research and weigh out the pros and cons before moving forward.

For any one interested in ways to adjust your diet to include more probiotics, or any one wanting to know which foods are harmful to the necessary balance please write to us or leave your comments on this page. Any one who has an experience to share, a goal that was reached, or questions they need answered are ALWAYS welcome to write to us! We look forward to hearing from you. We hope that not only did you learn more about your wonderful body, but that you enjoyed the information as well.

  1. People don't realize that probiotics also need to be replaced after bouts of sickness, especially after using antibiotics. Antibiotics are great for killing off the bad guys, but they also strip us of the "good" ones. Ever notice how eliminating isn't so easy or regular after being on antibiotics? That's because they help digest our food, and without them, things are a lot more difficult. It would be highly beneficial to everyone to look into supplementing with probiotics.
